行星系統

2001年10月15日在山案座π旁發現一顆太陽系外行星山案座πb[8]。這顆行星是目前發現的系外行星中質量最高之一。它的軌道離心率相當高，公轉週期約2151日（5.89年）。因為它的高軌道離心率，並且是會通過恆星適居帶的超級木星，可能會使假設存在的任何類似地球行星軌道受到擾動，並且使這些類地行星被推入恆星中或拋出行星系統。

結合更精確的依巴谷卫星觀測資料，天文學家計算山案座πb的質量大約10.27至29.9倍木星質量之間，證實了它的亞恆星天體特性，其質量上限在棕矮星的範圍之內[9]。

2018年9月16日，arXiv上刊登的预印本論文宣稱在山案座π周圍發現另一顆軌道周期6.27日的超級地球，這篇提交出版的論文內容是凌日系外行星巡天衛星發現的第一顆系外行星[10]。
