犀鵑亞科

犀鵑亞科（學名：Crotophaginae），是鵑形目杜鵑科下的一個小型亞科。^[1]該亞科下僅有兩屬四種主要分佈於南美洲的物種，分別是圭拉鵑屬及犀鵑屬。^[1]這個亞科下的成員的獨特之處在於其高度社會化的特性，這習性在其他杜鵑內較難以看到。^[2]:525牠們會共同防衛領地，群居、築巢並互相理毛。^[2]:525

這些鳥類也以行合作繁殖（英语：Cooperative breeding）為特色，這種行為在整個杜鵑科下只有在此亞科下才有，最多四隻雌鳥會一起將卵產在一個公共的巢內。^{[3][4][2]:542}並觀察到雌鳥會將其他卵推出巢外，這種策略使最後產卵的雌鳥在巢中貢獻的蛋數比所期望的要更多。^[4]但是牠們也會保留一些獨自孵卵的行為。^[4]

本亞科的成員為地面上的覓食者，並視種類會有對開闊空地或者對森林中潮濕植物覓食的偏好。^[2]:526其中犀鵑屬鳥類飛行較為笨拙而動作不靈活，而圭拉鵑屬的鳥類則被認為像是在空中的風箏一樣。^[2]:525

分類學

由骨學及粒線體DNA的研究中，得出了這四個物種所構成的犀鵑亞科是杜鵑科內較早期分化出的一個亞科。^[5][6]以下是由2012年的整體鳥類分類學研究的一小部分，並使用了2023年的分類法：^[1][7][8]
