同系列

同系列在化学上指结构与化学性质相似，相邻成员的组成差相同化学单元的一系列化合物。同系列中的化合物互为同系物。同系列在有机化学中尤为普遍。^[1]同系列的概念最早由法国化学家查尔斯·弗雷德里克·格哈特（英语：Charles Frédéric Gerhardt）提出。^[2]

例子

直链烷烃是一同系列，其碳数最少的物种是甲烷 (CH₄)，接着是乙烷(C₂H₆)，丙烷，(C₃H₈)，丁烷 (C₄H₁₀)，戊烷 (C₅H₁₂)，以此类推。该同系列中物种组成间相差一亚甲基(-CH₂-)，分子量差14。特别地，同系列中差一个化学单元的物种称为“相邻同系物”(adjacent homologues)。^[3]同系列中物种物理性质通常有规律地变化。例如直链烷烃的沸点随分子量增加而升高。

类似地，直链饱和一元伯醇也组成一同系列，包括甲醇(CH₄O)，乙醇(C₂H₆O),1-丙醇(C₃H₈O)，1-丁醇，依此类推。

同系化反应（英语：Homologation_reaction）是将反应物转化为其同系物的反应。

无机同系列

同系列非有机化学独有术语。有些元素，如钛，钒，钼的一类氧化物分别组成一同系列。例如V_nO_{2n − 1}(2 < n < 10)。又如硅烷(Si_nH_{2n + 2},n上至8)的同系列与烷烃类似。
