进化历史

真梳颌翼龙类的最早化石记录为侏罗纪晚期的启莫里期。而之前发现于英国Stonesfield Slate组，侏罗纪中期地层颌部化石被认为是最早的。该标本理应为梳颌翼龙科的代表，^[1]虽然进一步的检查表明，它属于真蜥鳄科。^[2]

分類

真梳颌翼龙类最初由David Unwin于2003年定义，其定义为：包含了鹅喙翼龙、南翼龙，以及它们的最近共同祖先和所有后代。^[3]

2000年到2010年间，不少真梳颌翼龙类的定义竞争被提出。Pereda-Suberbiola等人于2012年使用Fabien Knoll在2000年的定义，将其分类为翼手龙科。^[4]Knoll将翼手龙科定义为：包含古老翼手龙、纤弱梳颌翼龙，以及其最近共同祖先和所有后代。^[5]这样的定义以及Pereda-Suberbiola等人的分析就意味着真梳颌翼龙类其实为翼手龙科的下一级分类。^[4]以下为Pereda-Suberbiola等人（2012年）的多数规则一致演化树，该演化树显示了翼手龙科和梳颌翼龙类的优选定义。^[4]
