山斑鸠（学名：Streptopelia orientalis）是鸠鸽科斑鸠属的一种中等体型的鸟，也叫山鸠、金背鸠、金背斑鸠、麒麟斑、麒麟鸠、雉鸠、棕背斑鸠、东方斑鸠、绿斑鸠、山鸽子、花翼、大花鸽、大花斑。其种加词“orientalis”意为“东方的”。

金背鳩的外觀顏色非常類似於歐斑鳩(European turtle dove)，但體型要稍大一些，約與灰斑鳩(collared dove)大小相仿。頭、胸，腹部為紅褐色，上背及翅膀為棕色，羽毛中心顏色較深，呈現鱗狀外觀。頸部的側面有銀黑色相間的條紋斑塊。不同亞種的羽色差異很大。

鳴聲 编辑

叫聲是四個音節的 her-her-oo-oo。不同種群之間的叫聲，有很大差異。[2]

分佈和棲地 编辑

有各種不同的棲息地，喜於植物繁茂但開闊的環境中繁殖，冬季繁殖會選擇更開闊的地方，但仍有良好的樹木遮蓋。[2]

分佈範圍往西可達西亞。[3]最南端種群為留鳥，但在印度、馬爾地夫、日本的大部份亞種，會在冬季往南遷徙。分佈範圍廣泛，S. o. orientalis 偶而可見於阿拉斯加及加拿大卑詩省。在北歐及西歐亦可發現迷鳥，甚至可能於英國出現。[4]

在中国，山斑鸠分布在北自黑龙江、新疆，南至西藏南部、海南的广大地区。

溫帶地區繁殖季節是夏季；在印度南部，繁殖季節是冬季。

築巢大約需要兩天，通常由雄性採集材料，雌性則負責放置材料築巢。巢比其他鳩鴿類更堅固，並位於樹冠中央。 在日本，築巢在較高的位置，往往成為掠食目標。[5]

雄性負責在白天孵蛋，雌性則在晚上孵蛋。 所有的鳩鴿科鳥類，都以樹枝在在樹上築巢，每巢產下兩個白色的卵。產下第一個卵後會立即開始孵蛋。卵在15到16天內孵化，雛鳥大約需要15到17天才能離巢（在日本）。雌雄以鴿乳餵食幼雛。可能會養育多個雛鳥，也會重覆利用自己或別對的舊巢。[6][7]

在日本，雛鳥和卵的主要掠食者是烏鴉和喜鵲，其次是貓和蛇。[8]

金背鳩是穀食性的，以麻、向日葵、小麥、小米和莧菜的種子為食。偶而也捕食蝸牛、蛞蝓等腹足綱軟體動物。[3] 通常在地面上覓食。[9]

該物種分佈廣泛，因地理區隔導致的羽色差異，至少有六個亞種被指定。但除了某些島嶼外，許多國家的分佈並沒有在分類上分離出來。

某些在最東方邊緣出現的歐斑鳩Streptopelia turtur，其外觀可能與本種S. orientalis相似。過去這兩個物種是被認為同一種。[11][12]

  • S. o. meena (Sykes, 1832) – 東亞和中亞南至喜馬拉雅山脈；從克什米爾到尼泊爾中部。在印度冬季可遠至斯里蘭卡的南部。
  • S. o. orientalis (Latham, 1790) – 北從西伯利亞中部、日本和韓國，南到喜馬拉雅山、阿薩姆邦、雲南和越南北部。冬季可達南亞和東南亞(包括 S. baicalensis Buturlin).
  • S. o. stimpsoni (Stejneger, 1887) – 琉球群島的一個島嶼亞種。
  • S. o. orii Yamashina, 1932 – 台灣.
  • S. o. erythrocephala (Bonaparte, 1855) – 印度南部半島。與其他亞種不同，該亞種的頭部為紅褐色，額頭或頭頂不是灰色。尾羽的底面和末端是灰色的。[13]
