發行背景

2013年9月10日，威肯發行了他的出道專輯《親熱國度》^[15]，並發佈了〈Kiss Land〉、〈elong to the World〉與〈Live For〉（德雷克客串）三首單曲。專輯以約96,000張的銷量空降美國《公告牌》二百强专辑榜亞軍位置，只落後榜首齊斯·艾本的〈Fuse〉約2,000張^[16] 。專輯亦獲得樂評不俗的評價^[17]。

《三部曲》就像一張幽閉恐懼的作品。在作品發行之前，我21年來都從沒有離開過自己的城市，也從沒乘搭過飛機，連一次也沒有。我整個人生一直都在同一個地方度過，也許這就是專輯的片段感覺像是一首很長的歌曲的原因，因為我的人生感覺也同樣。《親親國度》是《三部曲》之後的故事 — 就像是我人生的第二章。作品從我第一次航行開始記起，感覺非常陌生，也非常受到亞洲的啟發。當有人問我「為何是日本?」我則回答他們因為這是我到訪過離我家最遙遠的地方，感覺真的是個不同的星球。^[18]

《親親國度》發行後，威肯開始頻繁出現於各張原聲帶，包括電影《飢餓遊戲2：星火燎原》原聲帶，獻唱〈Devil May Cry〉以及客串希雅的〈勇者之心〉，並作為原聲帶的第二張單曲發行^[19][20]。其後與亞莉安娜·格蘭德合作的歌曲〈用力愛我〉亦作為單曲發行，並獲得不俗的商業成績^[21]。

2014年6月24日，威肯公佈了新一輪巡迴演出的計劃，將於2014年9月至10月於美國巡迴舉行小型演唱會^[22]。在此前一天威肯於SoundCloud上發佈了歌曲〈有時〉，引起這輪巡迴將會推出威肯的新素材的猜測^[23]。2014年12月23日，〈值得〉作為電影《格雷的五十道陰影》原聲帶的單曲發行，並於美國《告示牌》百強單曲榜登上最高第3位^[24]。

2015年7月5日，紅髮艾德於Beats1廣播電台的訪問中提及正在與威肯製作他的新專輯，並透露肯伊·威斯特也參與這張專輯的工作^[25]。2015年7月9日，威肯於推特上確認新專輯將會叫做《狂野之美》，並分享了專輯的封面^[26]。

單曲

• 《頻率》在2014年7月31日作為專輯首張單曲發行^[27]。歌曲於美國《告示牌》百強單曲榜登上最高第59位，並在加拿大《告示牌》百強單曲榜登上最高第69位。
• 《山丘》在2015年5月27日作為專輯第二張單曲發行。歌曲於2015年6月13日空降美國《告示牌》百強單曲榜第20位，成為該周最高空降名次的歌曲^[28] 。歌曲首周於美國達到約109,000次下載量，並達到約520萬的串流成績，主要受在發行當天所公開的音樂錄像帶所帶動^[29]。其後歌曲於美國《告示牌》百強單曲榜登上最高第1名，並持續6周。截至2016年1月，歌曲於美國的下載量達到約266萬次^[30]。
