在早期，潔西曾與Gut唱片公司簽約，公司亦準備為她錄製專輯，但公司卻在作品出版前無預警倒閉。後來潔西輾轉成為作曲家。退居幕後的她曾與麥莉·希拉的 "Party in the USA" 的制片 Dr.Luke 一起合寫這首歌歌詞,還和 Claude Kelly（克勞德凱利）合作，以及為賈斯汀·提姆布萊克，克里斯小子（與他歐洲巡迴演出），艾莉西亞·凯斯，克莉絲汀·阿奎萊拉寫詞曲，並於2008年受邀百變歌姬辛蒂蘿波的「Bring Ya To The Brink Tour」巡演擔任合音。此外，她的歌曲"Sexy Silk"亦被喜劇電影 Easy A 當成配樂。

專輯中的第一首單曲是Parker & James與"The Invisible Men"創作的“Do It Like a Dude（英语：Do It Like a Dude）”，於2010年11月18日發行。單曲原於英國單曲榜排行最高第5名，但在傑西在2011年全英音樂獎贏得了影評選擇獎後，“Do It Like a Dude”於進榜後8週後升上第2名的新高。此外，這首歌亦登上愛爾蘭單曲榜第11名。
