玫瑰是紅色的（Roses are red）是一首英格蘭詩歌，也指由這首詩引發出的一系列打油詩。它常被認為是一首愛情詩，也被編成民歌傳唱。

起源

這首歌的歷史至少可以追溯至1590年埃德蒙·斯賓塞的《仙后》（Book Three, Canto 6, Stanza 6）：^[1]

It was upon a Sommers shynie day,

When Titan faire his beames did display,

In a fresh fountaine, farre from all mens vew,

She bath'd her brest, the boyling heat t'allay;

She bath'd with roses red, and violets blew,

And all the sweetest flowers, that in the forrest grew.

現代情人節常用的歌詞則來自1784年的英格蘭童謠集《Gammer Gurton's Garland》：

The rose is red, the violet's blue,

The honey's sweet, and so are you.

Thou are my love and I am thine;

I drew thee to my Valentine:

The lot was cast and then I drew,

And Fortune said it shou'd be you.^[2]

維克多·雨果1862年出版的《悲慘世界》中，芳汀也唱過這首歌，法語為：^[3]
