泰瑞·普萊契

泰倫斯·大衛·約翰·普萊契爵士，OBE（英語：Terence David John Pratchett，1948年4月28日－2015年3月12日），暱稱泰瑞·普萊契（Terry Pratchett），英國知名作家，擅長文學作品為奇幻文學。至今他共寫過65本書，其作品除了英語外，也翻譯成其他37種語言。其作品總銷量已達8500萬冊[1][2]。

生平

普萊契出生于英格兰，是英语文坛最具影响力的讽刺作家之一，被誉为“笔锋犀利、擅于讽刺的J·R·R·托尔金”。

普萊契早期的爱好包括天文，他喜欢收集Brooke Bond（一种品牌）有关太空的卡片，并拥有一台望远镜，他希望长大以后能成为一名天文学家，但因为缺乏数学方面的必要技能，他不得不放弃这一理想。然而，这却让他对英国、美国的科幻小说产生了浓厚的兴趣。于是普萊契于1963年4月加入了科幻协会，直至几年后得到了他的第一份工作才退出。

普萊契13岁时在校刊上刊登了他的第一篇短篇小说“The Hades Business”，并在两年后被出版社出版。普萊契在他15岁的时候通过了5个初级考试（0-levels），并开始學習艺术，英语和历史中级课程(A-levels)。普萊契最初选择成為记者。在1965年，普萊契离开学校，为Bucks Free出版社工作。工作之余，他也会以吉姆叔叔的笔名写一些儿童故事。

普萊契于1968的时候获得人生的第一个突破。他应邀去接受一个小型出版公司董事Peter Bander van Duren的采访。交谈期间，普萊契提及了他已经完成的小说《飞毯一族》的手稿，为彼得所赞赏。之后《飞毯一族》于1971年由科林·史密斯出版社发行，且是普萊契自配的插图。该书一经出版，便好评不断。此书排在他于1976年出版的科幻小说《The Dark Side of the Sun》以及于1981年出版的科幻小说《Strata》之前。

第一本碟形世界系列的小说《魔法的颜色》的精装本由科林·史密斯出版社于1983年发行。其平装本的版权很快便由一个环球公司Corgi获得。第三本碟形世界系列小说《平等权利》的精装本版权由Victor Gollancz出版社一直保留到1997年，之后史密斯成为普萊契的经纪人。普萊契的小说碟形世界是Victor Gollancz出版社首次出版的奇幻小说。

普萊契在完成第四部碟形世界系列小说《死神学徒》之后离开了中央发电局，以专注于小说创作。

2007年12月，普萊契聲明他已罹患早發型（英语：Early-onset Alzheimer's disease）阿兹海默病。[3] 2015年3月12日，他於家中逝世，終年66歲。[4]

作品

他所寫的作品幽默風趣且頗為機智與諷刺，結局常出人意表且發人深省。他於1998年獲得OBE勳銜、於2002年以《貓鼠奇譚》獲得英國卡內基獎，2009年的新年授勳名單中獲勳為下級勳位爵士。他的主要作品是《碟形宇宙（英语：Discworld）》系列，自該系列第一本《魔法的颜色》于1983年出版以来，他以平均一年2本的速度写作。

他的小说销量上升得很快，而且许多部小说都跻身于小说“最好销量榜单”的前列。据《泰晤士报》报道，普拉切特是1996年英国收入最高的作家。他的一些小说已由另一家环球公司Doubleday出版。据2005年的Bookseller's Pocket年鉴，普拉切特的小说精装本销售额在英国达到3.4%的份额，价值达到了3.8%，使他仅次于排在第一位的J.K.罗琳。其平装本分别达到了1.2%和1.3%，排在詹姆斯·帕特森 (1.9% and 1.7%)， （Alexander McCall Smith），約翰·葛里遜和J·R·R·托爾金之后。他的小说一年售出250万本。
