霍夫梅斯特陨石坑

霍夫梅斯特陨石坑（Hoffmeister）是位于月球背面赤道附近一座古老的大撞击坑，约形成于39.2-38.5亿年前的酒海纪[1]，其名称取自德国天文学家库诺·霍夫迈斯特（英语：Cuno Hoffmeister）(Cuno Hoffmeister，1892年-1968年)，1970年被国际天文学联合会批准接受。

该陨坑西北偏西毗邻加夫里洛夫环形山、东南靠近巨大的环壁平原-门捷列夫环形山、往北面不远则坐落了西登托普夫环形山[2]。该陨坑中心月面坐标为15°02′N 136°50′E / 15.04°N 136.84°E / 15.04; 136.84，直径44.46公里[3]，深度约2.26公里[1]。

霍夫梅斯特陨石坑外观轮廓不太规则，坑壁已受侵蚀，南侧壁连接了卫星坑"霍夫梅斯特 N"，二者间上横跨了一座带有高反照率的小撞击坑，而西北壁则覆盖了另一座碗状的小陨坑。霍夫梅斯特陨石坑的侧壁最大高出周边地形1070米[1]，内部容积约有1525.41公里3[1]。坑内表面相对平缓，除散布有一些细小的坑穴外，没有其它突出的典型地貌特征。
