艾瑪·羅伊納·蓋特伍德

艾玛·罗伊纳·盖特伍德（英語：Emma Rowena Gatewood，1887年10月25日－1973年6月4日[1]，常被称为盖特伍德奶奶，英語：Grandma Gatewood），超轻徒步先驱，她是首位独自徒步走完阿帕拉契小径的女性，仅耗时三个月。[2]

盖特伍德生于俄亥俄州高卢县古堰乡，她是一位农夫的妻子，育有11个子女，截至其去世前，她有24个孙辈，30个重孙，1个玄孙。[1]结婚后，她长期受到家庭暴力的影响。[3]

徒步

1955年，67岁的盖特伍德前往徒步阿帕拉契小径，她穿着Keds运动鞋，她把一块军用毛毯、一件雨衣、一块塑料浴帘装在自家缝制的背包里，然后单肩背包徒步，由此她成了超轻背包的先驱。当她到达康涅狄格州后，本地报纸刊登了她的故事，运动画刊跟进报道[4] ，偶后她还在今日秀中露脸。

后来她在国家地理中说，"I thought it would be a nice lark," she said, adding "It wasn't." Another time she complained "For some fool reason, they always lead you right up over the biggest rock to the top of the biggest mountain they can find."[2]

1960年、1963年（时年75岁），她又两次徒步了阿帕拉契小径，最后一次她分段完成了徒步。[2]2007年以前，她一直是徒步阿帕拉契小径的最年长女性。[5]

盖特伍德是National Campers 、Hikers Association和the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club的终生会员，同时她也是Director Emeritus和the Buckeye Trail Association的终生会员。[1]

纪念

在俄亥俄州Hocking Hills州立公园，North Country Trail、uckeye Trail和the American Discovery Trail重合的6英里部分，被指定为盖特伍德奶奶小径（Grandma Gatewood Trail），这条小径连接了Old Man's Cave和Cedar Falls to Ash Cave。[6][7]
