美國教師聯盟（The American Federation of Teachers，AFT），也译作美國教師聯合會，是由美國教師組成的工會團體，由瑪格麗特·海莉（英语：Margaret Haley）創立於1916年的芝加哥；[3][4] 其前身為1900年創立的美國教師與學生聯盟（American Federation of Teachers and Students）。[5]

美國教師聯盟已有100個地方分會 合計代表1萬1 000名美國教師的權益 佔當時美國教師總數的1 5 成立初期 有別於全國教育協會 英语 National Education Association NEA 美國教師聯盟純為教師組織 不接受學校行政人員成為會員 在政治人物與各校高層打壓下 1930年的美國教師聯盟會員人數一度僅剩7 000人 其對聯邦政府或各州教育政策的影響力也漸趨衰落 6 不過 1939年時 美國遭逢經濟大恐慌 政府和各校都陷入財務困境 連帶影響教師工作權益和教學品質 導致許多教師因不滿現狀而加入工會 美國教師聯盟的會員人數也在此時攀升至3萬3 000人 1930年代的美國教師聯盟不只能為小學教師發聲 也能為大學教授的勞動權益挺身而出 此時 美國共產黨也逐漸滲透聯盟 以某些地方分會為基地吸收成員 並招致非共產黨人的聯盟幹部不滿 在1941年 美國教師聯盟就拒絕三個由共產黨人主導的地方工會加入聯盟 這三個地方工會都位於紐約市或費城 到了1940年代 美國教師聯盟開始以一系列罷工行動 作為組織發展策略 第二次世界大戰結束後 1946年到1949年間 美國教師聯盟共發動57次罷工行動 此時美國教師聯盟的會員人數已上升到4萬2 000人 1960 70年代 美國教師罷工行動更為頻繁 僅在1960年至1974年間 就有約1 000次教師罷工行動
