《愛情拼圖》是概念專輯，主題圍繞着「心碎」、「奮鬥」、「和平」及「賦權」，並說述了一個「很棒」的故事。^[6][7]因專輯中的單曲以克萊森的生平經歴的各片段而创作，所以被命名為Piece by Piece（一片一片的）。^[8]《愛情拼圖》涵蓋不同音樂風格，包括電子流行音樂、管絃樂流行音樂（英语：Orchestral pop）、強力流行音樂以及電子舞曲音樂，與其之前所使用的音樂風格（流行搖滾音樂）截然不同。專輯發行後，受到普遍正面的評價，但因專輯製作及節奏安排的不足，而未能得到較高的分數。^[9]

《愛情拼圖》最早在2015年2月27日，由RCA唱片透過母公司索尼音樂娛樂在大洋洲及歐洲發行。^[15][16]同年3月3日，專輯由RCA唱片及19唱片（英语：19 Recordings）同時在美洲發行。^[17][18]同日，發行了限量版box set，附有專輯的豪華版以及17張歌詞拼圖卡，拼圖卡裝在定制的燙金（英语：holographic foil）蓋章盒中，並分對應着不同歌曲。^[19]而每張專輯中還附贈了巡迴演唱會愛情拼圖巡演（英语：Piece by Piece Tour）的獨家預售票代碼。^[19]

RCA唱片為紀念專輯發行一週年，在2016年3月4日以數碼方式再次發行專輯的豪華版（新增了同名單曲愛情拼圖（英语：Piece by Piece (song)）的偶像版）^[20]
