希普尚克斯陨石坑

希普尚克斯陨石坑（Sheepshanks）是位于月球正面冷海北侧的一座撞击坑，其名称取自英国皇家天文学会名誉会员、剑桥天文台捐助人安妮·希普尚克斯（英语：Anne Sheepshanks）（Anne Sheepshanks，1789年-1876年），1935年被国际天文学联合会正式接受[1]。

描述 编辑

该陨坑北面靠近略大的克·迈尔陨石坑、东南毗邻位于月海南侧突出的亚里士多德环形山[2]。该陨坑中心月面坐标为59°14′N 17°02′E / 59.24°N 17.04°E / 59.24; 17.04，直径23.67公里[3]，深约1.87公里[4]。

从地球上看，希普尚克斯陨石坑因透视作用而略呈卵状，但其外观轮廓实际接近圆形，几乎未受到撞击侵蚀。内侧壁坍塌的岩石沿坡底形成了一圈岩屑堆环，东侧内壁上嵌入了一座小撞击坑。希普尚克斯陨石坑坑壁最大高出周边地形830米[4]，内部容积约为355.61立方千米[4]。

月溪 编辑

距希普尚克斯陨石坑东南约30公里处是一条被称作希普尚克斯月溪的狭窄月沟的西端，该裂缝穿过月海表面一路向东北偏东方延伸，长度达到200公里。

卫星陨石坑 编辑

按惯例，最靠近希普尚克斯环形山的卫星坑将在月图上以字母标注在该坑的中心点旁。
