厄尔兰格陨石坑

厄尔兰格陨石坑（Erlanger）是月球背面靠近北极的一座小撞击坑[1]，其名称取自美国生理学家，1944年诺贝尔生理学或医学奖得主约瑟夫·厄尔兰格（1874年-1965年），2009年1月22日被国际天文学联合会正式接受。

该陨坑西北和西南分别坐落了古老的皮里环形山和伯德环形山，东南毗邻稍大的菲比格陨石坑 [2]。

该陨坑中心月面坐标为86°59′N 28°37′W / 86.99°N 28.62°W / 86.99; -28.62，直径10.94公里[3]，深约1.794公里[4]。

厄尔兰格陨石坑是一座圆杯状的撞击坑，边缘轮廓略显参差，但未见有明显的撞击侵蚀，陨坑坑底面积较小，内侧壁平直向下。它的坑壁最大高出周边地形表面410米[4]，内部容积约有52.37立方千米[4]。由于地处月球北极附近，阳光难以照射到它的坑底，坑内有可能堆积有彗星撞击所带来的水冰[5]。为此，美国月球勘测轨道飞行器和印度月船1号上的微波成像雷达对该陨坑进行了水冰探测[6]。
