加利福尼亚州州长列表
加利福尼亚州州长是加州州政府的行政部门长官，同时也是加州国民警卫队的统帅。州长负责确保各项加州法律得到切实执行，并拥有以下权利：批准或否决议会通过的法案；召集议会会议；在特定条件下发布赦免命令等[1]。截至2019年2月，加州共有40任州长。这其中，许多州长都有着超越加州范围和政治领域以外的影响力，例如利兰·斯坦福于1891年建立了斯坦福大学；厄尔·沃伦担任过美国首席大法官；罗纳德·里根后来成为美国总统；阿诺·施瓦辛格曾是著名演员。第一位通过选举被罢免的州长是格雷·戴维斯，他也是美国历史上第二位通过选举被罢免的州长。任期最长的州长是厄尔·沃伦，曾三次当选州长，任职将近十年。而任期最短的州长是米尔顿·莱瑟姆，宣誓就职仅五天便离任，转而就任美国参议院议员。现任加州州长是2019年1月就職的加文·紐森。
州长列表 编辑
美国在美墨战争结束后，得到了墨西哥割让的土地，并于1850年9月9日接受其加入联邦，成为加利福尼亚州。最初的1849年加州宪法规定两年选举一次州长，任期开始日期没有特别规定。一份1862年批准通过的宪法修正案将任期增加为四年[2]。1879年加州宪法则规定州长任期开始于选举年后一月的第一个星期一。1990年，加州140号提案要求修正宪法[3]限制州长任期为不超过两任[4]；此前只有厄尔·沃伦实际任期超过两任。而已担任过两任州长的杰瑞·布朗在2010年重新被选举为州长，因为其早先的任期（1975年至1983年）并不受后来通过的宪法修正案限制。1849年加州宪法还规定了副州长一职，当州长职位出现空缺时由副州长履职[5]。正副州长不在同一张选票上选举。
