兰金陨石坑

兰金陨石坑（Rankine）是月球正面赤道东部的一座小撞击坑，其名称取自苏格兰土木工程师、物理学家和数学家威廉·约翰·麦夸恩·兰金（1820年-1872年），1976年被国际天文联合会正式批准接受。

描述 编辑

该环形山西北偏西毗邻麦克劳林环形山；东北靠近诺比利陨石坑；吉尔伯特环形山坐落在它的东侧；南面则是冯·贝林陨石坑。兰金陨石坑的西、北、东三面分别濒临泡沫海、浪海和史密斯海[1]。该陨坑的中心月面坐标为3°52′S 71°29′E / 3.87°S 71.49°E / -3.87; 71.49，直径10.5公里[2]，深度2.7公里[3]。

兰金陨石坑是位于卫星坑麦克劳林 B坑底南部的一座圆杯状小月坑，其内侧坡面平整，坑底面积极小，表面反照率略高于周边地形。坑壁平均高出周边地形300米[4]，内部容积约有20立方千米[4]。与月球上许多同尺寸的小陨坑没有区别。
