背景

2019年2月1日，Wallows发行了与Clairo合作的专辑的首张单曲〈Are You Bored Yet？〉。音乐录影带也在同一天发行。 ^[5]专辑的第二张单曲〈Scrawny〉于2019年2月18日发行，而第三张单曲〈Sidelines〉于2019年3月8日发行。〈Scrawny〉的音乐视频在2019年3月22日与专辑一起发行。

《Nothing Happens》由布里登·勒馬斯特斯 （吉他兼主唱）、Cole Preston（吉他兼鼓手）、迪倫·明奈特 （吉他兼主唱）以及格莱美奖得主John Congleton共同编写和制作。迪倫·明奈特曾因出演Netflix系列影片《十三个原因》而出名。剧集播出后不久，迪伦发行了他的乐队Wallows的第一支单曲，名为〈Pleaser〉。 ^[6]
