紐蒙特黃金公司
紐蒙特公司（Newmont Corporation），曾用名为纽蒙特黄金公司以（Newmont Gold Company)及紐蒙特礦業公司（Newmont Mining Corporation），是一家總部位於美國科羅拉多州格林伍德村的礦業公司，是世界第一的金礦開採公司。

纽蒙特公司由William Boyce Thompson上校于1916年在纽约成立的一家投资于全球矿产、石油和相关公司的控股公司。根据公司的传说，"纽蒙特 "这个名字是 "纽约 "和 "蒙大拿 "的谐音，反映了汤普森发财的地方和他成长的地方。纽蒙特公司在1917年进行了第一次重大的黄金投资，在南非的英美公司（Anglo American Corporation）中创立了25%的股份。四年后的1921年，该公司(Newmont Company)重新注册为纽蒙特公司（Newmont Corporation）[10]。1925年，公司曾一度改名为纽蒙特矿业公司（Newmont Mining Corporation）[10]。

Fred Searls在担任公司的勘探地质学家后，于1947年成为总裁。1954年Searls退休后，Plato Malozemoff接任总裁一职[14]。
纽蒙特公司于1965年开始在内华达州的卡林（Carlin）开采。“卡林型金矿”是20世纪北美最大的金矿发现。1971年，纽蒙特公司开始对那里的低品位矿石进行堆浸[15]。

在20世纪80年代，纽蒙特成功击退了五次分别来自Consolidated Gold Fields（ConsGold）、T. Boone Pickens、Minorco、Hanson Industries和Sir James Goldsmith的收购邀约[16]。他们试图将纽蒙特拆散并出售其资产以增加股东价值。
1987年，为了抵御T.Boone Pickens提出的63亿美元的收购方案，纽蒙特公司向所有股东支付了每股33美元的特别股息，22亿美元的现金，其中17.5亿美元是借来的。为了减少这些债务，公司进行了一项撤资计划，涉及其所有的铜、石油、天然气和煤炭利益[17]。

2000年6月21日，纽蒙特公司宣布将并购Battle Mountain Gold[19]。该并购于2001年1月完成。
