按1913年韋氏字典的解釋 flora 在植物學上有兩意思 1 某一地區 或地域 或時期 裡自然生成的所有植物種類群所形成的一個完整系統 稱為植物相 2 這樣的植物種類群的完整名單或描述 或是其專題論文 稱為植物誌 1 範圍 编辑通常植物志之編寫乃取一特定區域 例如中國植物志 甚或地帶 如熱帶植物誌 對此特定區域內的所有植物 主要是維管束植物 予以形態的描述及分類的處理詳細記錄
