施莱谢尔寓言

施莱谢尔寓言 (英语：Schleicher's fable，原始印欧语：H₂óuis h₁éḱuōs-kʷe) 是由一段使用重构的原始印欧语 (Proto-Indo-European，PIE) 编写的一段文字，于1868年由语言学家奥古斯特·施莱谢尔发表；施莱谢尔是第一位使用原始印欧语撰写文本的学者，该寓言的题目是《Avis akvāsas ka  ("羊[Ewe]与马[Eoh]")》。此后随着时间的推移，由于人们对原始印欧语样貌的看法在不断变化，许多其他学者又陆续发布了施莱谢尔寓言的修订版本；出过去150年间，众多学者们的不断努力使重构的原始印欧语发生了显著的变化，从这篇寓言亦可见一斑。

施莱谢尔寓言的第一个修订版本是由赫尔曼·希尔特创作的(由阿恩茨于1939年发布))；第二个修订版本是由温弗雷德·莱曼和拉迪斯拉夫·兹古斯塔于1979年发布的；^[1] 另一个版本则是由道格拉斯·Q·亚当斯撰写，收录于印欧语系文化百科全书(1997:501)；2007年，弗雷德里克·科特兰又在他的主页上发表了另一个版本。^[2]

The sheep said to the horses: "My heart pains me, seeing a man driving horses." 方案中值得注意的差异

以上这些文段之间的一些区别仅仅在于更换不同的拼写方式：例如 w 和 u̯, 只是在用不同的方法表示相同的辅音型 u 语音；然而，其余的许多区别则是因为不同学者对于原始印欧语的音位学和词法学系统的观点存在分歧。

施莱谢尔的重构版本中认为 o/e 语音是二次产生的，他的原始印欧语版本相较于当今的重构版本更加倾向基于梵语。

希尔特引入了 o/e 语音，音节辅音，圆唇软腭音和软腭音。

莱曼和兹古斯塔引入了一些替代性的词位(关系代词kʷesjo；单词 nēr "男人")，并开始向喉音理论的方向行进。他们的文本的一个特点是含有 h (wl̥hnā)，他们认为它是原始印欧语中仅有的单独喉音。

亚当斯是第一位在其寓言版本中完全反映喉音理论的学者。从文字上来看，他似乎假设存在四个不同的喉音音位，因此亚当斯的文本中也未再出现长音 ā 。

科特兰的版本从很多方面来看都和之前的文本有着根本的差异——第一，他继承了声门音理论，在字母后加撇号来表记声门塞音(t' )并省略了送气浊塞音； 第二，他分别使用最可能的音值取代了每一个令人难以理解喉音符号： h₁ = ʔ (声门塞音)，h₂ = ʕ (浊咽擦音)，h₃ = ʕʷ (圆唇化的浊咽擦音)。此外，科特兰对于许多名词与动词形式中的元音交替和变换现象亦持有与其他学者不同的意见。

在流行文化中的应用

在雷利·史考特的电影《普罗米修斯》中，原始印欧语被用于人类宇航员和一个外星人“工程师”之间的一段短对话；^[14] 在这之前的一个场景中，机器人“大卫”(迈克尔·法斯宾达饰)在准备第一次与“工程师”交涉时，对着交互式计算机练习背诵施莱谢尔的寓言。^[15]
