彼得·盖伊（英語：Peter Gay，1923年6月20日—2015年5月12日），耶鲁大学斯特林历史学荣休教授，前纽约公共图书馆学者与作家中心主任。2004年，盖伊获得美国历史学会（AHA）颁发的学术杰出贡献奖。盖伊著作等身（超过25部），其中包括多卷本的《启蒙运动：一种解读》（The Enlightenment: An Interpretation, 1966, 1969, 1973）、鸿篇巨著《布尔乔亚经验：从维多利亚到弗洛伊德》（The Bourgeois Experience: Victoria to Freud）。[1]

彼得·盖伊出生于德国柏林，于1941年移民至美国。他先后在丹佛大学、哥伦比亚大学获得学士、硕士与博士学位，并获得多所大学的荣誉博士学位。1961-1969年，他在哥伦比亚大学担任历史学教授。其后加入耶鲁大学历史系，担任欧洲比较与思想史教授，并于1984年荣获斯特林讲席教授。晚年的盖伊身居纽约曼哈顿，近期仍投身于浪漫主义及其它思想史的研究。

2015年5月12日，彼得·蓋伊在紐約曼哈頓家中去世，享年91歲。[2]

正如美国历史学会的颁奖词中所言，盖伊的“学术成果是着实显著的”。他在1959年出版的《伏尔泰的政治》（Voltaire's Politics）中剖析了作为政治家的伏尔泰、及其政治理念如何影响了他的写作。在《伏尔泰的政治》一书获得成功之后，盖伊撰写了更为包罗万象的启蒙历史——《启蒙运动：一种解读》，其第一卷获得了1967年的美国国家图书奖 in History and Biography。[3]
