马来西亚城市列表

马来西亚的主要城市都有市政厅或市政局的地方政府規格。但是有些地区仅有市议会或特殊地方政府机构，有时候也被认为是城市（如：布城管理局）。城市的资格由一个地方的地方政府辖区决定。其他没有城市资格的地区被分类为城区（Municipality）或城镇（Town）。

地方政府升级为市的条件是必须要有至少50万人或以上及每年有至少1亿的收入^[1]。 以下为馬來西亞获得市政局或市政厅资格的城市：

吉隆坡是马来西亚最大的大都市和都会区。槟岛或乔治市也是马来西亚第二大的都会区。同时位于南边的新山和依斯干达公主城两个市政厅是马来西亚第三大都会区的中心区域。其他超过五十万人口的都会区包括怡保、古晋和亚庇。

注释

1. 乔治市在1957年1月1日由英女王伊丽莎白二世陛下授予皇家宪章正式宣布乔治市为马来亚联合邦的第一个城市。然而，1976年由于当地政府整顿，乔治市市政厅和槟岛乡区地方政府合并组成槟岛市议会。
2. 吉隆坡是马来西亚首都同时也是联邦直辖区和最大城市，但政府行政机关已于2003年迁移至新行政首都布城。
3. 古晋由南北两个地方政府组成，并大致以砂拉越河为界
4. 由芙蓉和汝来市议会合并
