弧矢增六為星團中最亮的星

弧矢增六恆星系統位於疏散星團NGC 2362的中心。這個恆星系統包含4個超巨星，總質量超過太陽的100倍。其中的許多星星由約翰·赫歇爾編目並分類為A、B、C、D四組：A星包含3顆恆星Aa、Ab1和Ab2，較亮的一對星是相距0.1天文單位的緊密連星，這2個子星因為引力的緣故都拉長成了橢球形，而另有一個子星較小且略暗，以155天的周期圍繞著連星旋轉，軌道半徑約為5天文單位。這三個子星各自的光度分別為太陽的15萬、14萬和9.5萬倍。其餘的B、C和D星視星等分別為10等、14等及8等，和A星分別相距8.6弧秒、14.2弧秒與85弧秒。[3][12]其中B星估計絕對星等為-1.0，這個伴星也擁有5-6個太陽質量。以上這些星星都是NGC 2362的主要成員。

根據研究，AB兩對星群已經受到對方的引力影響，建立了為期94,000年的環繞週期。[13]

特徵

弧矢增六距離地球5000光年。雖然外觀上看似O型超巨星，但它是由多顆恆星組成。τCMa系統的許多次要性質皆未知。D星已發現具有B2V型光譜，但這仍然不確定。[13]其他三顆星光譜的相對亮度也已經從日食和軌道運動計算出來。光譜、質量和亮度皆是由Aa星主導，其總光譜為O9Ib，質量為50 M☉，總星等為+4.37，溫度為32,000K，光度為280,000 L☉。
