哈佛参考文献格式

哈佛注释体系（英語：Harvard referencing），也称插入括号型引用格式（英語：Parenthetical referencing）^[1]是一种罗列引用的方式，它将引用文献的作者名字和出版年份像“(Smith 2010, p. 1)”一样用括号包含起来，放在正文语句的末尾或者当中，最后在文章末尾“引用作品（英語：Works Cited）”、“参考文献（英語：References或Reference List）”或者“参阅资料（英語：Bibliography）”的章节以字母表顺序排列作者名字来指向参考资料条目。^[2][3]科学文献中另一种常用的格式为温哥华参考文献格式，即用文中引用出现的序号排列来索引文后的参考资料。

现今有两种不同的哈佛格式：

• 作者-时期体系：主要适用于自然科学与社会科学领域，为美国化学学会与美国心理学会（APA）所推荐；
• 作者-标题/作者-页码体系：主要适用于艺术与人文学科，为美國現代語言學會（MLA）所推荐。

作者-时期体系

作者-时期体系（狭义上的哈佛格式），文内引注插入在受到参考段落后，引注包含作者姓氏、出版年份、页码（可选），如：(Smith 2008, p. 1)或(Smith 2008:1)。全部引用信息在文后的参考资料章节给出，如：Smith, John (2008). Name of Book. Name of Publisher.

如何引用

作者-时期体系中，文内引注要求在文段中以括号形式插入，写出作者的姓氏、出版年份、页码或者页码范围，如上文例子所示。

• 如果是整书或者全文都作为参考，则具体的页码范围不要求给出。如果文中以及出现了作者的姓名，则不需要在括号内重复给出，如：“Jones (2001) revolutionized the field of trauma surgery.”括号内不再是常见的(Jones,2001)形式。
• 多名作者以“and”或“&”连接：（Deane and Jones 1991)或(Deane & Jones 1991)。超过两名作者则以“et al.”标记以表示多于两名作者，如：(Smith et al. 1992).
• 某些格式要求中（如MLA格式），日期不详这要求写上“n.d.”以作为“no date/no date of publication”的简写。^[4]
• 在上述体系中，受限于引用原文的页码编序不明确导致的具体页码不明，也应当写上“n. pag.”以表示“not paginated”，即未编页码。^[4]
• 出版商不详或者出版地不详均以“n.p.”标记于文后的参考资料条目合适位置中。^[4]
• 再版作品的引用可以用方括号的形式给出首版年份，如：(Marx [1867] 1967, p. 90)。或者也可以用斜杠形式标记，如：(Marx, 1867/1967, p. 90)。^[5]
• 如果同一作者在同一年份有多部作品被引用，则可以在年份后按照字母表顺序加上小写字母以表示区分，如2005a、2005b依次标注。
• 引用标记既可以放在句子后，也可以放在句子中，合理即可。若在句末，应放在句号前。但是大段引用的标注放在句号后，因为受参考部分不止一句话，故不应当放在一句话内。
• 完整的引文信息应当以作者姓氏按照字母表顺序排列在参考资料章节。这一章节可能有不同标题：“引用作品（works cited）”和“参考资料（references）”意涵基本一致，仅仅指文章直接引用部分的引文信息，但是参阅资料（bibliography）也包含文章中并没有直接引用，但可能对文章写作有影响的文献或书籍。
• 正文部分的引用标注应当以相同字体给出。
• 哈佛体系只是一种约定俗成的叫法，与哈佛大学等并没有直接的联系，仅仅是指用作者和时间在正文中标注引用的这种方法。哈佛大学的一些教员在19世纪晚期是该方法的早期使用者。哈佛体系这一名称在部分地区，特别是英国和英联邦国家被保留了下来。^[6]
• 请注意哈佛格式并没有官方指南，^[7]不同哈佛格式的手册都会有所差别。^[8][9]

例子

下面给出引用期刊文献的例子：

• 作者 first listed author's name inverted in the bibliography entry

• 页码^{[註 1]}内文注记自写出页码起始，在参考资料部分给出页码范围。
• DOI编号

书籍引用：

• Smith, J. (2005a). Dutch Citing Practices. The Hague: Holland Research Foundation.
• Smith, J. (2005b). Harvard Referencing. London: Jolly Good Publishing.

像纽约、伦敦、海牙之类的国际知名城市不需要特别给出所在国家/地区（如上例），如果并非国际知名城市，则要加注国家。

报纸文章引用：

• Bowcott, Owen (October 18, 2005). "Protests halt online auction to shoot stag", The Guardian.

作者-标题/页码体系

作者-标题/页码体系（即MLA格式），内文引注标记放在受参考内容后，以括号包裹形式给出，写上作者的姓氏、文章的标题、以及页码（标题只在同一作者有多部作品被引用时给出）。例如：(Smith 1)或(Smith, Playing 1)。 写页码时直接用数字，不需要在数字前加“p.”或者“pp.”，标题中的各个单词首字母不需要大写。文章最后在”参考资料“或者”引用作品“部分给出参考资料的全部信息。
