伊芳·齊瑪生於紐澤西州菲利普斯堡（英语：Phillipsburg, New Jersey）^[1]，丹尼斯（Dennis）和瑪麗（Marie）的女兒。她的波蘭血統來自外祖父，姓氏在波蘭語中即「冬天」之意^[3]。兩個姊姊：瑪德琳（英语：Madeline Zima）和凡奈莎（英语：Vanessa Zima）也是演員。
